# Add the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to Joomla

## See which Facebook and Instagram ad clicks turn into sales and sign-ups by adding the Meta Pixel to your Joomla site, using one HTML snippet.

 ![Add the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to Joomla](https://www.tassos.gr/images/2026/10/code-snippets-meta-pixel-card.png)You run Facebook and Instagram ads that send people to your Joomla site, but you can't see which of those visitors buy, sign up or come back. Without that, Meta optimizes for cheap clicks instead of customers. The Meta Pixel reports what ad visitors do on your site. You can add the Meta Pixel to Joomla with one HTML snippet in Code Snippets.

## [Get your pixel's base code](#get-your-pixel-s-base-code)

Open [Events Manager](https://business.facebook.com/events_manager2) and copy your pixel's base code. If you don't have a pixel yet, follow Meta's guide to [create one](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/952192354843755).

## [The snippet code](#the-snippet-code)

The base code looks like this, with your Pixel ID in 2 places:

```
<!-- Facebook Pixel Code -->
<script>
  !function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s)
  {if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod?
  n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)};
  if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';
  n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0;
  t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0];
  s.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)}(window, document,'script',
  'https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js');
  fbq('init', '{your-pixel-id-goes-here}');
  fbq('track', 'PageView');
</script>
<noscript>
  <img height="1" width="1" style="display:none" src="https://www.facebook.com/tr?id={your-pixel-id-goes-here}&ev=PageView&noscript=1"/>
</noscript>
<!-- End Facebook Pixel Code -->
```

Paste the code exactly as Meta gives it. In the Site Header location it lands in the `<head>` of every page and reports a page view on each one.

## [How to add this snippet](#how-to-add-this-snippet)

1. Install [Code Snippets](https://www.tassos.gr/docs/code-snippets/getting-started/how-to-install) if it isn't installed already.
2. Log into your Joomla backend.
3. Go to **Components** → **Tassos Code Snippets**.
4. Click **New**.
5. Enter a title, for example *Meta Pixel*.
6. Set **Code Type** to **HTML**.
7. Set **Insertion Method** to **Auto-Insert Locations**.
8. Set **Location** to **Site Header**.
9. Paste your pixel's base code into the editor.
10. Click **Save & Close**.

## [Check that it works](#check-that-it-works)

1. Open your site in a normal browser window with no ad blocker.
2. In Events Manager, open your pixel.

A new **PageView** event should show up within a few minutes. If it doesn't, check that the snippet is published and that the Pixel ID is right in both places. The [Meta Pixel Helper](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/meta-pixel/get-started/#pixel-helper) browser extension shows what the pixel sends from each page.
