Sending Plain-Text Alternative Body Emails
Some email clients—especially older or more minimal ones—show only the plain-text version of an email. If it’s missing, the message might appear blank, unreadable, or even trigger spam filters. This can affect how your emails are delivered and read.
To solve this, Convert Forms automatically includes a plain-text alternative body alongside every email you send via your Joomla forms. This ensures your messages are readable and properly structured across all email clients.
How Convert Forms sends the plain-text version
Convert Forms automatically generates a plain-text alternative body from your HTML email content—no setup needed. Here’s what happens behind the scenes:
- HTML is removed: All tags and formatting are stripped, leaving only clean text.
- Links are transformed: Anchor tags are rewritten to show both the link text and the URL:
- Line breaks are preserved: HTML line breaks (
<br>
) are converted into actual new lines (\r\n
), maintaining the intended structure.
Example: HTML vs Plain-Text Alternative
HTML Version:
<p>Hello John,</p>
<p>Visit <a href="https://example.com">our site</a> for more info.</p>
<br>
<p>Regards,<br>The Team</p>
Plain-Text Alternative Body:
Hello John,
Visit (our site) https://example.com for more info.
Regards,
The Team
