Add the TikTok Pixel to Joomla

You pay for TikTok ads that send people to your Joomla site, and then the data stops. TikTok can tell you how many people clicked, but not how many bought or signed up. Without that feedback, TikTok spends your budget on the cheapest clicks instead of the best customers. You can add the TikTok Pixel to Joomla with one HTML snippet in Code Snippets.

Get your pixel code

You need a TikTok Ads Manager account.

1. Sign in to TikTok Ads Manager.
2. Go to Tools → Events Manager.
3. Set up a web data source, choose TikTok Pixel, then choose to install the pixel code manually.
4. Copy the base code.

The snippet code

Use the base code exactly as TikTok gives it. It's one long script that already holds your Pixel ID in ttq.load('...') and reports a page view with ttq.page(). In the Site Header location it lands in the <head> of every page.

How to add this snippet

1. Install Code Snippets if it isn't installed already.
2. Log into your Joomla backend.
3. Go to Components → Tassos Code Snippets.
4. Click New.
5. Enter a title, for example TikTok Pixel.
6. Set Code Type to HTML.
7. Set Insertion Method to Auto-Insert Locations.
8. Set Location to Site Header.
9. Paste your TikTok base code into the editor.
10. Click Save & Close.

Track a purchase

The base code counts page views. To tell TikTok about a purchase, add a second snippet that runs only on your order confirmation page:

1. Click New.
2. Enter a title, for example TikTok purchase.
3. Set Code Type to JavaScript.
4. Set Insertion Method to Auto-Insert Locations.
5. Set Location to Site Footer.
6. Paste the code above into the editor.
7. Change value and currency to match your order.

8. Open the Conditional Logic tab:

   • Set Display on to Selected Pages.
   • Click New Condition Set.
   • Click Select Condition and choose URL - Query String.
   • In URL, enter a part of your thank you page's address, for example thank-you.
9. Click Save & Close.

For other actions, change Purchase to another standard event, like Lead, AddToCart, ViewContent or CompleteRegistration. TikTok renamed CompletePayment to Purchase and SubmitForm to Lead, and recommends the new names for new setups.

Check that it works

1. Install the TikTok Pixel Helper extension for Chrome.
2. Open your site, then your order confirmation page.

The extension should show the pixel on every page and the Purchase event only on the confirmation page. If nothing shows up, check that the snippets are published and turn off any ad blocker.
