Add a Footer Line to the Joomla Administrator

Put your agency name, a support phone number and a help link at the foot of every Joomla administrator page, the login screen included, using one HTML snippet.

Add a Footer Line to the Joomla Administrator

Joomla 3 printed a footer line in the administrator, and agencies used it for their name and a support number. Joomla 4 and 5 print nothing there: the Atum template has no footer at all. If you hand sites to clients, that line is the one place they look for "who do I call". You can put it back on every administrator page with one HTML snippet in Code Snippets.

The snippet code

The snippet is a styled paragraph. Code Snippets inserts it at the end of every administrator page, where it sits under the content as a centered footer line.

<style>
  .tcs-admin-footer {
    padding: 18px 20px 22px;
    text-align: center;
    font-size: 13px;
    color: var(--body-color, #6c757d);
  }
  .tcs-admin-footer a { color: inherit; }
</style>
<div class="tcs-admin-footer">
  Site built and maintained by <a href="https://www.example.com">Example Agency</a>.
  Need a hand? Call us on 210 000 0000, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5.
</div>

Change the text and the link to your own. The color follows the administrator template, so the line stays readable in dark mode too.

How to add this snippet

  1. Install Code Snippets if it isn't installed already.
  2. Log into your Joomla backend.
  3. Go to Components → Tassos Code Snippets.
  4. Click New.
  5. Enter a title, for example Admin footer.
  6. Set Code Type to HTML.
  7. Set Insertion Method to Auto-Insert Locations.
  8. Set Location to Admin Footer.
  9. Paste the code above into the editor.
  10. Click Save & Close.

Admin locations are part of Code Snippets Pro.

Check that it works

  1. Go to Content → Articles.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.

The line sits centered under the list. Log out, and it's on the login screen as well, under the form, so you may have to scroll on a small window.

To change the login screen's logo and colors, use the settings of the Atum template under System → Administrator Template Styles. To learn more about how HTML snippets work, read the HTML snippet docs.
